The only reason the United States’ intervention in Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine hasn’t turned into World War III is because of the restraint of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
This is according to conservative political commentator Glenn Beck, who discussed the ongoing situation in Ukraine during a recent episode of his program on BlazeTV with co-host Steve Burguiere. Beck and Burguiere made their point by suggesting that if the U.S., for some reason, invaded Mexico and the Kremlin was openly arming and providing other kinds of military aid and support to the Mexican government, the White House would be furious and would likely be attacking Russia.
“What is stopping this [World War III]? The only thing stopping it right now, solely, is the restraint of Vladimir Putin which, by the way, is not something I can depend on,” said Burguiere. “He’s shown over and over again that he has almost no restraint. He just went in and invaded a country in a completely ridiculous fashion … I can’t say enough how much I hate [this invasion].”
“That being said, if this scenario had played out the other way, we would 100 percent be outwardly saying we are at war with Russia, and in a way [the Kremlin] is saying that, but they haven’t acted that way yet, thankfully,” concluded Burguiere.
To make matters worse in Ukraine, President Joe Biden has approved a new package of military aid for Ukraine worth up to $300 million in taxpayer dollars, including additional munitions, especially for drones.
The White House is openly discussing providing Ukraine with more drones and more ammunition for Kyiv’s already fast-growing drone fleet just as reports are coming in of renewed drone attacks targeting Moscow. The administration’s defense for this is that there is supposedly no indication that U.S.-made drones or munitions were used in the recent attacks on Moscow.
Furthermore, the White House claims that Kyiv has agreed not to use any American-provided weapons for attacks on Russian soil, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky himself has given the U.S. his assurances that his government and his armed forces will respect America’s concerns.
“We don’t tell them where to strike. We don’t tell them where not to strike… Ultimately, President Zelensky and his military commanders decide what they’re going to do from a military perspective,” said John Kirby, the White House National Security Council spokesperson. But he added that the U.S. has been “very clear with the Ukrainians privately, we’ve certainly been clear publicly, that we do not support attacks inside Russia.”
The new aid package provided to Ukraine includes munitions for Patriot missile batteries and additional rockets for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems, as well as more ammunition for Avenger and Stinger anti-air defense systems.
The U.S. is also providing a whole host of mine-clearing equipment, anti-armor ammunition, Zuni unguided air-to-surface rockets, night vision goggles, about 30 million rounds of ammunition for small arms and an undisclosed amount of other artillery rounds.
“We have no armaments,” remarked Beck. “Because what have we been doing? We’ve been giving them all away.”
